When summer ends and the darker seasons of autumn and winter are with us, that’s the time when burglaries and break ins increase. There is nothing better for a burglar than the cover of darkness to allow them to go undetected. Around the rear of someone’s property, away from the road and protected from the neighbours view by a fence or hedge, that’s the best chance for them succeeding. What every householder needs to do is make things as difficult as possible for them so hopefully they will try elsewhere instead. So, how do you go about achieving this? We caught up with www.orbitalfasteners.co.uk to find out more!
Cut Back Trees & Hedges
One good piece of advice is to cut back any tall trees or hedges. Anything that will prevent them being seen is good news to a burglar so just make it as hard as possible for them. When doing this don’t take any unnecessary risks by reaching from a step ladder that isn’t tall enough. If you buy a Fibreglass Platform Stepladder then not only will it be lightweight and easy to carry but you’ll have a safe platform to stand on and something safe to hold onto as well.
Make sure you have adequate security lighting around your premises. Anyone attempting a break in will not want to be illuminated for passers by to see but would much rather go undetected for as long as possible.
Keep Valuables Out Of Sight
Remember to keep locked away anything that is likely to help a break in. So lock up your ladder with a good quality Security Chain and Weatherproof Padlock and put away any tools in a securely locked shed or garage. It’s highly unlikely a potential burglar will bring along their own but having yours on display and available will be an added bonus to them.
